A study compares three weekly regimens of chemotherapy for lung cancer

patients and causes a higher incidence of side effects.Our study shows that both substances can be easily administered and administered without significant toxicity when weekly paclitaxel in combination with full dose of carboplatin on the first day of each cycle, with few side effects, said Dr. Belani. The administration of higher doses of paclitaxel every week by improved survival and was more related the toxic effects of treatment. This is a major concern for patients with lung cancer at advanced stage, since the main goal of treatment is to improve survival, symptoms and improving quality of life for patients.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy and safety of three regimens of carboplatin plus weekly paclitaxel. The study included 401
patients with stage III and IV NSCLC of 47 academic and community sites in the United States. Patients were randomly assigned to one of three groups. The first group received 100mg/m2 of paclitaxel weekly three or four weeks with carboplatin on the first day.
